Tuesday, January 27, 2026 will be an eLearning day. ALL Lancaster County schools, buildings, and facilities will be closed. The Lancaster County School District has been in contact with Lancaster County Emergency Management and the SC Department of Transportation and inspected roads and multiple school campuses across the county and found widespread runoff and wet parking lots that are expected to refreeze overnight. Several campuses currently have ice and slush in areas with limited sunlight, especially around entrances, sidewalks, drop-off lines, bus loops, and other secondary areas that remain shaded. Standing water and runoff are expected to freeze as temperatures continue to drop tonight. Due to the hazardous conditions from ice we have determined closure is essential.  As a safety precaution, ALL Lancaster County schools, buildings, and facilities will be closed on Tuesday, January 27, 2026.

Students and staff are expected to actively participate in the eLearning day.  We recognize that power outages and interrupted services may prevent students and staff from communicating and completing assignments during eLearning. Upon return to normal schedule, students will have the number of eLearning days plus one additional day to complete any elearning assignments.

Students will receive eLearning information from their schools and teachers.  Please visit https://bit.ly/LCSDeLearning if you have any questions.

Updates will be provided via the district website, email, text, phone and social media. Stay safe and stay warm.

✨ Teacher Cadets in Action! ✨
Our Teacher Cadets had a fantastic visit to McDonald Green Elementary on Friday! Cadets performed a puppet show for students, bringing The Ugly Duckling to life through a skit they wrote and a theater they designed themselves. 🦆🎭

A special thank you to Ms. Corzo for giving our cadets a tour of the school and sharing insights into the many aspects of school life at McDonald Green. We are so grateful for the opportunity to visit our feeder schools and learn what makes each one truly unique. 💛

What an amazing experience for our future educators!

🎓🇺🇸 Guest Speaker Spotlight!

Our Law Enforcement Services students recently had the opportunity to hear from Ms. Jacinda Orr, a college ROTC student at the University of South Carolina, who shared valuable insights about life after high school and future opportunities. Ms. Orr discussed the benefits of the ROTC Minuteman Scholarship 💰🎖️, what college life is really like, physical fitness standards, and the expectations of balancing both military and college responsibilities. This engaging presentation gave students a clearer picture of leadership, discipline, and the many opportunities available through ROTC programs. We appreciate Ms. Orr for taking the time to inspire and motivate our students as they plan for their future! 👏🎓

Juvenile records and long-term impact
Effects on future employment (civilian and military)
Family Court outcomes
Accomplice liability and constructive possession
Driving privilege suspensions

🚔📚 Our Law Enforcement Services students recently completed their fall semester capstone project, the “Cereal Box Serial Killer” project. Students selected a criminal of interest to research and showcased their findings through a creative cereal box design. Each project highlighted key facts, visual timelines, case details, and the individual’s interactions with law enforcement, all while adding a fun and imaginative cereal-themed twist. This project allowed students to combine research, critical thinking, and creativity, and they truly enjoyed bringing their work to life. We are proud of their hard work and innovative presentations! 🕵️‍♂️🥣

🎄 Ambush Club & Law Enforcement Services Give Back 🎄

The Ambush Club, Law Enforcement Services students, and the Heyward Family proudly volunteered their time on December 5th and 6th to support the long-standing community event, “Christmas with Chuck.” This annual toy and canned food drive benefits families across Lancaster County and truly reflects the spirit of the season.

The event featured special appearances by Santa and Mrs. Claus, a car show, raffle prizes, and most importantly, the joy of giving back to our community. We extend our sincere gratitude to event coordinator Mrs. Lori Yarborough for partnering with the Ambush Club to make this event possible. A special thank you as well to Comporium for their generous support in providing breakfast for the volunteers. We are proud of our students and families for their service and commitment to the community.
