Remember when it was Winter the last week of school? (What was that about!?) Ms. Harwood and her students had no more assignments, no Chromebooks, and no recess due to the pouring rain. She got out the board games and the kids had indoor recess like it was 1999! Woohoo! We miss our Warriors- a little more than a month away until we are back! ILIS Open House 2025 is almost here... Swing by on Friday for one of our 1-hour sessions! This will be a great opportunity for you and your student to meet their teachers and explore ILIS! You will start at their homeroom and then rotate through each of their core classes. Happy Thursday- Throwback time! Ms. Crider and Mrs. Riggins’ classes completed research on the Olympics, and the students presented on their favorite Olympic sport before having fun at the ILIS Field Day! We are throwing it back on this "Throwback Thursday" to the end of May when Ms. Berry and the Counselors threw a celebration in honor of everything the student council accomplished this year! In addition to the delicious ice cream sundaes you see here, Ms. Berry also had the students make slime. 🫟Ms. Berry created this program from scratch, and they did some pretty incredible things during their inaugural year for our school! Student Council supported staff with initiatives, helped out in the front office, did their own drives, sparked community with displays in the halls and more. We cannot wait to see what amazing things Student Council accomplishes next year! #wearewarriors #ilis

A Throwback on a WEDNESDAY?! Look at us mixing it up over here... We had quite an accomplishment when prepping for SCReady last spring. Indian Land Intermediate did a great job and earned the title of "South Carolina Region 2 Test Yourself Challenge Champion!" Our students logged 2,880 high-scoring entries (6/10 or better) in Math Nation+. This is an incredible achievement and a testament to their hard work! Ms. Mallett wrote in a caption for her thowback post! Check it out below! "Wrapping Up with the Trial of SpongeBob! To close out our argumentative writing unit and the school year, we held our annual Trial of SpongeBob—a student favorite! The class was split into prosecution and defense teams, each working with the same set of evidence to build and present their case. Students took on the roles of attorneys, showcasing their persuasive writing and critical thinking skills in action. (I'd like to add that Deputy Thompson acted as our court bailiff and brings her courtroom knowledge and experience to offer feedback for the students!) Our admin team served as judges, making the final call on SpongeBob’s fate. This engaging and collaborative activity is always a hit and a great way to end the year on a high note!" This is a favorite tradition at ILIS. If you have older kiddos who roamed these halls in the last 4 years, see if they remember doing it! #wearewarriors #ilis

The social media office person got a late night text reading: "I know you don't want to hear from me this late but my kids are doing the coolest stuff!" You know what, Ms. Kiel? They ARE doing cool stuff- and we are sorry it took us a minute to share! But here we are on a Throwback Thursday getting this end-of-May content out there. She writes, "End of the year in Mrs Kiel’s Science class students were tasked to get in groups, research something they always wanted to do and make it happen. They had to create it In class and share the Science behind it! We have been having the best time!!" It looks like you sure were, Ms. Kiel. 💙 Can't wait to share all the amazing things you guys accomplish next year!

Ms. Purcaro's 6th Grade Science class found a great way to let loose after testing! She writes, "We made board games after state testing. They chose  science topic we studied this year and used the engineering process to plan their games!" Thanks for sharing, Ms. Purcaro!

Today we head allllll the way back to....May 5th. 🤣 Ms. Williams writes, "Today we celebrated Cinco de Mayo while wrapping up our “Countries Around the World” on Mexico. We learned why Cinco de Mayo is celebrated, made Maracas and enjoyed food from the Mexican culture!" Thank you so much for sharing Ms. Williams, and great work Warriors!
